There are moments when I know there is a tsunami of tears on the other end of Che's hysterical laughing. The People's Food Co-op Farmers Market has become one of our new favorite field trips and was the scene of a few unbelievable instances yesterday. The first was my fault, I foolishly thought the wind/sun shield would be a great place to rest the produce basket...NO! and also thank you Peg Perego for making a visor that doesn't allow the baby to be crushed even if the basket tumbles to the ground in slow motion as a frantic mommy grasps at a basket barely out of reach. The second was an "I am too tired to be here" hysterical laughing peppered with weird and adorable noises and tears. In this situation thank you to the funny face making guy in the line next to us and the lovely Ms. G, who was manning the stroller to help alleviate the mommy stress factor. I know other women have lots of children, I know they often do it alone, I think they rock for being themselves but myself is thankful everyday that it is just Che. Even in the face of a slightly stressful situation he is a wonder and a joy, if I could change his name to something anymore meaningful (probably not possible) it would simply be 42.

Che is like Mikey (that kid from the cereal commercial)
Today for lunch Che ate red beans and corn bread, they were mushed together and I couldn't keep it coming fast enough for baby grunts a lot. We really are raising a foodie, I think we started in the womb but I never expected my nearly eight month old to applaud after each bite. So far some of the odd food combinations I've presented have worried me more than necessary. Some of the varieties are Pico De Gallo Pea's , Carrot with Parmesan, yogurt, red onion and garlic, garbanzo beans and spinach with garlic, and green beans with tamari and sesame. These are just a few of the combinations I prepare just for him, some of the things he wants to try that he ends up loving have been shocking, hummus was obvious but muhammra (a spread/dip made of roasted red pepper and walnuts) really surprised me, any sandwich, taco or burrito is worth a bite too. He really gets upset when you don't share, it can turn into an awkward situation very quickly.

The answer and question.
Strangers and family members alike are continuously asking when we will be having our second child. No matter how many times anyone asks the answer is never, we are happy to remain a family of three. People often snort or ask something along the lines of "really? Just one?" and to you I say "Yes, just one..." and this blog will chronicle the wonder that is a single child family in a world where too often it's a single parent multi-child family that is common. I stay at home, we play, learn, go on outings, and I'm sure as he grows my son Che, Husband Man, and I will be doing more than I could even imagine. So far it's been a wonderful experience, and I have a feeling it's only going to get more exciting, challenging and fun.
